Yiorgos Bereris is a Rotterdam-based contemporary pianist, accordionist, and composer that embarks on a boundless musical journey marked by a passionate pursuit of innovative landscapes. His artistic exploration crafts a unique language of composition and improvisation that draws inspiration from jazz, Greek, and Balkan music traditions.
In 2023, Yiorgos released "Laros," his debut album featuring early compositions. This compelling collection showcases a piano trio at its core, complemented by a blend of wind instruments (kaval, trumpet, saxophone) and electric guitar, reflecting his multifaceted musical vision.
A founding member of the band Merem, Yiorgos contributed to their 2023 debut release. The ensemble has graced significant European venues, notably making a mark at the prestigious North Sea Jazz Festival.
Yiorgos Bereris' artistic skills extend beyond conventional music realms. In 2023, he composed and produced music for the contemporary circus shows of La Campistany's "Peluda" and Harvey Cobb's "Pink Boots and an Alcoholic Sock Puppet," premiering at Festival Circolo (Tilburg, NL), Cirque Mania (Korzo Theater, NL), and Theater op De Markt (BE).
Raised in Athens, Greece, Yiorgos started his musical journey in his early teens. After graduating from the Music High School of Alimos, he pursued a BA in Jazz Piano Performance at the Ionian University under the mentorship of George Kontrafouris. In 2022, he attained his Master's Degree from Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam.
Bereris' talent has graced revered venues and festivals globally, including the North Sea Jazz Festival (NL), Jazz in de Gracht (NL), Boston Conservatory Theater (USA), Greek National Opera (GR), Megaro Mousikis Thessalonikis (GR), and the Jamboree Jazz Club (SP), among others.
